Health – Promoting Therapies in Special Education Kindergartens
Health - Promoting Therapies in Special Education Kindergartens
Israel Elwyn provides health-promoting therapies for children with autism in special education kindergartens operated by the Ministry of Education in the Krayot area (Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Yam, Kiryat Bialik, and Kiryat Ata). These services, designed for children aged 3 to 7, are funded by the Ministry of Health and include a therapeutic package tailored to their needs.
This therapeutic package is offered in addition to the professional therapies provided by the Ministry of Education and is delivered under Subsection 3 of the National Health Insurance Law (1994).
The therapeutic package is delivered by qualified professionals and includes:
- Speech Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Psychiatric/Developmental Medicine
- Emotional Therapy
- Behavioral Therapy and Physical Therapy, as needed
10.5 hours of direct therapy: Individual sessions, group therapy, and parental guidance.
3.5 hours for indirect therapy-related activities: Such as staff meetings and professional development for therapists.
The exact allocation of therapy hours is determined according to the child’s needs and the therapeutic methods used in the kindergarten, following the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.
Family-Centered Care: We recognize the importance of supporting the entire family.
Individualized Treatment Plans: Each child’s therapy goals are outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP), developed collaboratively with the Ministry of Education’s multidisciplinary team and the child’s parents.
Parent Collaboration: Parents are integral to the process and participate in at least three meetings annually with kindergarten staff and therapists to discuss progress and consult on their child’s care. Ongoing parental guidance is also provided as part of the program.
Parental Co-Payment: For children in frameworks other than an early intervention center, parents are required to contribute a monthly fee, as determined annually by the Ministry of Health.
An intake in a special education kindergarten with health-promoting therapies involves:
Submitting diagnostic documents to the kindergarten teacher and program coordinator.
Signing consent forms for therapy services and confidentiality waivers.
These services are funded and supervised by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
